Lea Michele Posts Touching Message On 5-Year Anniversary Of Cory Monteith’s Death
Although it has been five years since the death of “Glee” star Cory Monteith, his memory has not been forgotten. Lea Michele, along with another Fox cast member, shared special messages on Friday.
Michele, who dated Monteith for over a year up until his death in 2013, has shared a post on social media remembering her late boyfriend each year since his passing. However, this year, it appears she may have changed her tradition.
The “Places” artist shared a touching message that acknowledged the importance of those who are no longer alive. “There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they have gone, the light remains,” she tweeted, along with the photo of a sunset over the water.
While Michele didn’t mention Monteith by name, she wasn’t the only one to share a sentimental post. Jenna Ushkowitz, who played Tina Cohen-Chang on “Glee,” posted an old cast photo to her Instagram Story featuring a spotlight shining down on Monteith.
The 31-year-old star was found dead in his Vancouver, Canada, hotel room on July 13, 2013. Monteith reportedly died from a toxic mix of alcohol and heroin. The actor gained fame from the Fox series, in which he portrayed a quarterback named Finn Hudson.
Following Monteith’s death, Michele dated Matthew Paetz for two years before they split in 2016. The actress was later romantically linked to Zandy Reich in July 2017. In April 2018, the AYR clothing president surprised the 31-year-old actress by proposing with a 4-Carat diamond engagement ring.
Prior to getting engaged, Michele revealed Reich added genuine joy to her life. “I’m very happy and I think that you can tell. I don’t really talk a lot about my personal life, but I’m also the kind of person where I always say, ‘You will see how happy I am just by looking at my face.’ I can’t hide it,” she told People in November.
“When I’m not working, I’m at home with my cat, with my family, with my boyfriend, with the people that I love — and that’s how I reset, and that’s how I center myself,” she added.
Although Michele has managed to find love after Monteith’s death, she will always carry her late boyfriend with her. Along with songs dedicated to the actor, the “If You Say So” singer also has several tattoos inked on her body in his honor.
