  • "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" was announced in 2019
  • Nintendo said it would offer more details about the game this year
  • Fans believe Nintendo would announce something related to the sequel in September

While many fans anticipate that another announcement for "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" would roll out this month during the supposed Nintendo Direct, a recent leak revealed disappointing news about the game and the series as a whole.

Following the launch of a short teaser trailer at the E3 2021, fans have not heard additional news about the highly anticipated game "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2." Reliable industry insider who goes by the name SamusHunter believed the Japanese gaming giant will not make any major announcements related to the sequel.

"Information about the sequel to Breath of the Wild is held with extreme confidence," the insider tweeted on Saturday.

"But I personally doubt in its reveal, it is more suitable for the Game Awards. It is possible some information about the second DLC of HWAoC," they said, speculating what the "Zelda" franchise would showcase at the next Nintendo Direct.

The insider believed a major "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" announcement could happen in December at this year's The Game Awards. Moreover, they predicted the upcoming gaming showcase could offer information on the DLC of "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity."

Nintendo has released a couple of teaser trailers for the upcoming sequel since it was announced at E3 2019. However, like what the insider said, developers working on the game appeared to be keeping the details about its gameplay and plot in extreme secrecy.

This, however, did not prevent fans from speculating and forming theories about the game's plot. Some of them believed the sequel would feature time travel as reportedly referenced in the teaser trailer released during E3 2021.

Several others believe Ganon, Link's nemesis, could be the protagonist in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2." Another interesting fan theory claims the upcoming sequel would revisit Skyloft. Apart from those, some fans believe Astor is the upcoming sequel's main villain.

Unfortunately, since Nintendo has not said anything new related to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" yet, fans are advised to take these claims and leaks as speculative.
