The Legends travel back in time to save Ray’s life in next week’s episode of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

According to the synopsis for Season 3, episode 4 of the CW series, the Waverider crew rushes back to Ivy Town 1988 when they learn that Ray (Brandon Routh) will die because they broke time. When they arrive, they are surprised to learn that young Ray has befriended a time-displaced baby Dominator putting him in harm’s way with the government and the Dominator’s mother.

The first meeting between young Ray and the baby Dominator was shown at the end of Season 3, episode 3. Young Ray was riding his bike away from a group of bullies when he decided to hide in the woods. There, he ran into a seemingly friendly extraterrestrial being that turned out to be a Dominator.

“It’s a send up to the Amblin films of the ‘80s, very ‘Stranger Things,’” executive producer Marc Guggenheim told The Hollywood Reporter of episode 4. “It’s a story as Ray Palmer as a young boy befriends an alien, kind of like Elliot in ‘ET,’ the twist being the alien he befriends is a baby Dominator. Chaos ensues. It’s crazy. You don’t even know.”

“There’s a dance number,” Guggenheim’s fellow executive producer Phil Klemmer added of what fans can expect from the episode. “Someone has sex with — well, not fully, but somebody [tries] with a space alien. And it’s going to be on Halloween, which is perfect.”

At the 11-second mark of the trailer, a woman is seen caressing Nate (Nick Zano) on a sofa. While the woman doesn’t look like a space alien, it seems that the mystery woman is none other than Ray’s mom, played by “Chicago Med” alum Susie Abromeit.

Last August, Abromeit took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes look at her character. Interestingly, her hairstyle and her silky robe in the pic match with the hair and costume of the mystery woman about to make love with Nate in the trailer.

Elsewhere in episode 4, Stein (Victor Garber) begins working on a secret project on the ship which makes Rory (Dominic Purcell) and Jax (Franz Drameh) suspicious. Also, Legends’ latest recruit Zari (Tala Ashe) must find her place and learn to trust the team.

“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3, episode 4, titled “Phone Home,” airs on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW. Watch the trailer for the episode below:
