‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Spoilers: Is Zari A New Love Interest For Mick?
Although there’s an undeniable chemistry between Mick and new character Zari in Season 3, episode 3 of CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow,” series star Dominic Purcell doesn’t think that the two will eventually fall for each other.
“Mick (Purcell) senses that she’s kind of like the new Rory,” Purcell told Entertainment Weekly of the Legends’ latest recruit, Zari (Tala Ashe). “That’s the way he would look at it. She likes to eat, she’s very cynical, sarcastic. Rory is very much like that as well. So, yeah, he recognizes himself in her definitely.”
Despite Mick and Zari’s similarities, Purcell thinks that a romantic relationship between the two is unlikely to happen, adding that a love interest is probably not in the cards for his character. But in the event the show decides to introduce a love interest for Mick, the Australian-British actor prefers Mick to be paired with someone who has as much “fire and balls” as him.
“Part of Rory’s mystique is that you can’t track him,” the “Prison Break” alum said. “You can’t tame him. So it would be funny to bring in a woman with just as much fire and balls as Mick and to see what happens there. I don’t know. I think it would be funny, for sure. We’ll see.”
While it’s unclear whether Mick will ever get a love interest, Purcell assured fans that his character will continue to become even funnier this season. “Mick’s really letting go,” Purcell previously told Entertainment Weekly. “He’s really stepped out of Snart’s (Wentworth Miller) shadow and he’s, on the surface, less dark — still very dark, but not as deeply burdened. The great thing about Mick is that he is so funny, even more so this year, and I think that’s a condition of stepping out of Leonard’s shadow, and yet that also allows him to start finding himself.”
In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained how they have managed to make Mick more hilarious in the new season. “Mick’s a lot of fun to write this year because of the story we told with him last year,” Guggenheim said. “Last year, by the end of the season, we pretty much had him come to terms with the fact that he thinks they’re lame, he thinks being a hero is lame, but gosh darn it, these people are his team and they’re his crew and he’s going to back them up. So what I think is a lot of fun about Rory [in Season 3] is he’s sort of the most unadulterated version of Rory that we’ve seen on the show thus far, because he’s not conflicted by any questions of loyalty.”
“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
