Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus Split: ‘Catching Fire’ Actor To Break Engagement With Singer [REPORT]
Miley Cyrus may soon be a single lady. A new report claims her fiance, actor Liam Hemsworth, is looking to break up for good, following her infamous appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards last month.
According to Us Weekly, the star of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is hoping to quietly break off his longtime engagement with his 20-year-old girlfriend. “He is so over her and wants to make a clean break,” an inside source told the magazine Friday. “[He is] just weeks away from calling it off permanently.”
While the couple has been rumored to be headed for splitsville for months, Cyrus’ recent provocative performance of “Blurred Lines” at the VMAs was the final straw for the 23-year-old Australian native, who allegedly thought her on-air display was “mortifying.” Immediately following the former Disney starlet’s performance with R&B singer Robin Thicke, RadarOnline published a similar report regarding Hemsworth's reactions. “He couldn’t be more embarrassed. He doesn’t really see anything sexy about what she did on stage,” said the source.
The duo’s romance most recently raised eyebrows after they were reported to be acting more like friends than a couple during the Aug. 8 red carpet premiere of Hemsworth’s latest film, “Paranoia.” “Miley and Liam acted like they didn't even know each other the entire night," an eyewitness revealed to Us Weekly. "She was wearing her ring, but they acted as if they were strangers."
Cyrus first confirmed her engagement to Hemsworth via People magazine in 2012 after three years of dating. “I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," said Cyrus, then 19. The couple began dating following their on-screen romance in the 2010 Nicholas Sparks film "The Last Song."
