Liam Payne Teases Upcoming Solo Album Will Feature Ballad With Female Singer
Liam Payne is preparing for the launch of his solo album. The former One Direction member has now revealed that after his first two singles, “Strip That Down” and “Bedroom Floor,” he his now gearing up for a ballad track with a female singer.
When Payne attended the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden this weekend, he was interviewed by The Daily Mirror about his upcoming solo album. The 24-year-old recording artist confirmed that the album is slated for release next year.
Speaking on the songs that he is working on, Payne gushed that he’s been polishing some lyrics because he also considers what his fans would feel about his songs. “There’s been a few lyrics that have come through where I’ve though, ‘Hmmm will that really rock with my fan base?’ So I have to be kind of careful.”
Payne then teased about an upcoming track with a female sing. “We wanted to push the boundaries as far as we can, so I’ve met some new producers who I really like, and I have a kind of ‘ballady’ thing coming out soon with somebody so that’s going to be really cool as well.” The British singer is mum on the female vocalist’s identity, but he maintains that fans should really watch out for the duet.
Meanwhile, Payne, who welcomed his first child with Cheryl Cole this past March, couldn’t help but talk about his holiday plans now that he is a father. According to the first-time dad, he is definitely spending some time with his son, Bear Grey.
“My holiday plans are to spend some beautiful time with my son and to eat my own weight in lovely Christmas food,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “You might see a different Liam after Christmas, and then you’ll see post-Christmas Liam with a New Year’s resolution, hopefully.”
Payne also revealed what he is giving his son this year after receiving this tip from another parent: “It’s his first Christmas. He’s only going to be interested in the wrapping paper, so buy the shiniest one.”
Finally, the former “X Factor” contestant confessed that fatherhood has changed him in every way, and he is constantly facing the challenge of being away from his family when he is working. “The house has just been done up all Christmassy so there’s a lovely feeling around at the minute. I’ve been away for a little while so I’ve only seen pictures, that’s been the hardest thing about touring.”
