Lil Nas X's VMAs Outfit Gets Mixed Reaction, Interviewer Says 'Let's Move On'

Lil Nas X got dissed by red carpet interviewer Jamila Mustafa at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday where he wore a lavender half suit (top) and half dress (bottom).
A Twitter user shared the eight-second conversation video on Sunday. In the video, the 22-year-old rapper asked the interviewer, "I think I look good do I look good?" and Mustafa immediately responded, "I'm not saying I'm hating on the outfit but let's move on!"
Fans took to the comments section to share their mixed reactions.
One of the fans praised the interviewer for sharing her honest feedback and wrote, "I’ve never seen an interviewer like….give their honest opinion…."
Another user shared a laughing video and noted that the rapper is going to remember this feedback forever. "He said: I look good don’t I. she said: chiiiiile, anyways so…This is the deadliest kind of shade, I know he gon remember this forever," the user captioned the video.
A user compared the rapper's look with late singer Rick James.
One of the users recalled that Nas X isn't the only one who dressed in half suit and half dress. "Billy porter knows how to do the dress suit the right way," a user wrote.
However, there were some fans who tried to defend the "Industry Baby" star.
One of the fans wrote, "Big props to Lil Nas X for pushing through that god awful interview" while another fan commented, " Lil Nas X is sooo nice cause we definitely woulda been arguing for the rest of the interview."
Nas X was nominated for five titles including "Video of the Year," "Best Direction" and "Video for Good." The rapper also performed "Industry Baby" and "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" during the event with Jack Harlow.
Earlier this month, the rapper made headlines when he promoted his upcoming music album, "Montero" with a fake baby bump photo and it didn't go well with the netizens.
On the work front, the rapper is all set to drop his new music album on Sept. 17.
