Liza Minnelli denies reports claiming that she is friends with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
The Sun published a report claiming that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex struck up a friendship with the American actress. Minnelli was reportedly helping Prince William’s brother “find his feet” in Los Angeles.
However, Minnelli denied the report. In a post on Facebook, the “Arrested Development” star shared that she has not met the royal couple yet.
“While I wish them well, I have never met Prince Harry and Meghan. Any statement to the contrary is a complete fabrication,” Minnelli wrote.
The outlet alleged that Prince Harry was struggling with his transition from the U.K. to L.A. Moreover, the lockdown has only made it worse and more challenging for him to establish himself.
“Liza reached out because she was close to Diana and offered her support,” the unnamed source said. “She’s been dealing with paparazzi for years, and knows the fame game. Obviously, Meghan comes from a theatrical background too, so it’s been great for the three of them.”
Apparently, the report was not true. As Minnelli said, she has not met the two royals yet. However, the report about Prince Harry struggling in the United States is something that many have predicted.
Royal commentator and author Tom Quinn was convinced that Prince Harry’s life in the U.S. would be worse than Markle’s experiences in the U.K. “I think Harry will be like a lost soul in the U.S.,” Quinn said on Channel 5’s “Harry & Meghan: Two Troubled Years. It will be far worse for Harry in America than Meghan in England because he’s not as tough as she is.”
However, the “Ladies of London” alum Marissa Hermer thought otherwise. For her, the royal couple made a good decision in moving to Los Angeles because the place is friendly to couples with growing families.
“Cars are bigger, streets are bigger, refrigerators are bigger, pantries are bigger, garages are bigger,” she explained. "I can probably feed my family … from the food in my house for weeks, whereas in London … refrigerators are smaller there,” she added.
