Megan Fox has been a huge support for boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly during his healing process as he continues to seek treatment for drug abuse.
Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, recently spoke with Dave Franco in a profile for Interview about how he's working to heal through therapy. During their conversation, the rapper named the people who have helped him during his recovery.
"Currently, my drug of choice is happiness and commitment to the art, rather than commitment to a vice that I believed made the art," Kelly shared. "I’m taking steps. I had my first therapy session last Thursday. That’s the first time I ever went, ‘Hey, I need to separate these two people,’ which is Machine Gun Kelly and Colson Baker. The dichotomy is too intense for me."
Talking about his mentors throughout his journey, the musician said his frequent collaborator Travis Barker has been "huge in the process of grounding" him. He also acknowledged how having a partner like Fox helped him, especially during the "dark nights."
"When you have a partner, mine being Megan, sitting there with you on those dark nights when you’re sweating and not being able to figure out why you’re so in your head, to help you get out of your head and put it in perspective, that really, really helps," Kelly said.
Kelly and Fox also talked about their relationship in an interview with Nylon last month. The "Forget Me Too" singer said love is "finding someone that can take you out of the fast lane and make sure that you're safe, because at any minute you can crash — I love that it can evolve into that."
For her part, Fox said there was no attempt on her end to control him. But he looks to her to avoid his own self-destructive tendencies and that's how she helped him.
"Loving him is like being in love with a tsunami or a forest fire," the actress said. "The intensity of merging with him is just overwhelming, and the threat it poses is so powerful but so beautiful that you have no choice to surrender with reverence and with gratitude."
Fox just filed for divorce from her estranged husband Brian Austin Green, with whom she shares sons Journey, 4, Bodhi, 6, and Noah, 8. They split in November 2019 after 10 years of marriage.
An unnamed source told E! News recently that it took a year for Fox to file for divorce as she and Green made sure to get everything in order first.
"They needed to hash out custody and figure everything out. It's been in the works and this was always her plan," the insider said. "As soon as they wrapped it up and the papers were in order, she filed. They will continue with 50/50 and have a plan for holidays."
