'Madam Secretary' Season 4 Spoilers: Elizabeth Hosts Party To Pass Landmine Treaty

Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni ) will be hosting a holiday party in the next episode of CBS' "Madam Secretary" Season 4.

In the promo clip for "Madam Secretary" Season 4, episode 9 titled "Minefield," Elizabeth reluctantly agrees to host a holiday party. The gathering aims to persuade the senators who will be attending the event to pass a treaty that requires countries to destroy landmines.

In the teaser, Elizabeth's daughter, Stevie (Wallis Currie-Wood), gives an update on their preparations to her mom. "I have options for caterers, ballets, decorations and everything. I also have a draft of the guest list," Stevie says.

Stevie's visit is a surprise and Elizabeth is in the middle of a meeting, so she has her daughter out in the room. "You kind of need to look over. You're out here so we'll go over it tonight. Okay?" Elizabeth says. "Also, I'm a public servant and your dad's a teacher so whatever you think something should cost make it half that, okay?"

Another clip features Mike (Kevin Rahm) and Sarah (Kat Sandoval) bickering. "Mr. Barnow, good to meet you. Your reputation precedes you," Sarah says. "As does yours. Didn't you get crazy or something?" Mike answers back.

The pair's conversation turns to his dog and Gordon. So Sebastian (Jay Whitman) butts in: "Getting back to the Gordon that matters, tell us how sector figures into this," he asks Mike.

"It will keep us on track," Mike answers. "You know Nadine, but I appreciate the effort. Look even if a senator in their heart wants to vote 'yes' they can't look weak on defense, so you have to get them covered."

On the night of the party, Elizabeth wears a black patterned dress. Meanwhile, Stevie looks like a princess in her shimmering gold ensemble. The mother and daughter are all smiles as they prepare to welcome their guests.

Meanwhile, Henry (Tim Daly) is not seen at the gathering. He must be busy with something else. According to the synopsis, Elizabeth's husband will look for evidence that the Senate Majority Leader exchanged information with the Russians.
