Maddox Jolie Pitt Misses Premiere Of Angelina Jolie's 'Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil'

Maddox Jolie-Pitt was not able to join his five siblings during the premiere of Angelina Jolie’s “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” on Monday.

Jolie took her five children —Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, Knox and Viviene, both 11— at El Capitan Theater, Hollywood, Refinery29 reported. Meanwhile their oldest brother, Maddox, 18, is abroad. Pitt and Jolie’s son is currently at Yonsei University International Campus in Incheon, South Korea studying college.

Back in August, Entertainment Tonight uploaded a video of Jolie dropping off her son in South Korea almost made everyone emotional. Despite wearing a strong but loving face, the “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” actress admitted that she was really trying not to cry.

Maddox has always been with Jolie and to the best of everyone’s knowledge, this is the first time that the “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” actress’ son misses the red carpet premiere of his mom’s film. Despite being away from his family, Jolie’s son seemed okay. During his first day of school, he was even photographed chatting with the other freshmen. Maddox reportedly received a warm, celebrity-like welcome in his current school.

Studying abroad was Maddox’s choice. In fact, Jolie’s son reportedly took time to prepare for it, including studying how to speak the Korean language. Jolie also made preparations prior to her son’s departure. More than a month later, Jolie reportedly had a hard realization on what was actually happening during the final days before Maddox left for school.

Jolie revealed that she thought she was preparing her son to leave, like ensuring he’s got everything he needs —right shoes, right jacket and right glasses— because that’s what mothers do. They work hard and help their children. But that wasn’t the case really. She realized that Maddox was the one preparing her.

At the airport, Jolie noticed that her son held back with her, USA Today reported. Instead of leaving right away, her son stayed with her.

Jolie reportedly asked her son if he was okay and Maddox replied that he was. The “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” actress said she received a huge hug from her son. According to her, Maddox knew she needed that. Jolie’s son gave her what she needed she could never be more proud. Finally, she revealed that she, in deed, cried.

Jolie knew that her son was ready and it was time for him to leave and experience an independent life. Despite missing the big event, fans are pretty sure that Maddox is proud of his mom as she is proud of the man he has become.
