Maks And Meryl Dating Rumors: 'He Definitely Loves Her,' 'DWTS' Val Chmerkovskiy Says
Viewers voted 2014 Sochi Olympic gold medalist Meryl Davis and professional dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy to be the winners of Season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday night. Throughout the show, many wondered if the two were an item. Val Chmerkovskiy, who is also on the show, said the pro has never loved another woman the way he loves his Season 18 partner. Maks and Meryl sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G — well, maybe not that far.
Even as platonic partners, the relationship between Davis and Maks flourished during the season. At times in the competition, Davis became the pro dancer’s teacher, coaching him through lulls in the competition where the pressure seemed to be getting to the Ukrainian dancer. Even “DWTS” judge Carrie Ann Inaba thinks the duo should make things (romantically) official. But who could know the dancer better than his own brother?
"She's precious, and he's gentle with her because he wants to see her shine and he won't want to hurt her. Val, 28, told Us Weekly at the season finale on Tuesday. “He's willing to calm down for her because she's the last person he wants to see cry and the last person he wants to hurt."
"He definitely loves her, and I know she loves him back," Val told Us Weekly. Maks has been on the show for 14 of its 18 seasons and it was his first win. On the finale, he said it was because his first Mirrorball trophy was supposed to be with Davis. Maks has been known for his temper on the show and, at times, getting frustrated with his partners, but not with the Olympian.
"She was good for him, but I feel it wouldn't do their love justice," the pro added. "One makeout session in the middle of the dance or to label it that they are a couple — it sounds great, but that's not what it is. He loves her probably more than I've seen him love another woman — he loves and adores her — but it's like a King Kong type of relationship."
That might sound strange to some, but Val told the news site that kind of love is “bigger than a kiss.” On Tuesday’s finale, though, he joked that Maks, 24, wanted to “ravage” the Olympic gold medalist and have “big, ice-dancing” babies with her.
