Is Malia Obama dating? Political observers are parsing President Obama’s words, with some determining that Obama hinted his 14-year-old first daughter has hit the dating scene.

The Internet has been buzzing with speculation that Malia is dating due to the following words Obama uttered during a speech about early childhood education at a rally Thursday in Georgia:

“I do have to warn the parents who are here, who still have young kids, they grow up to be, like 5 feet 10 inches. And even if they’re still nice to you, they basically don’t have a lot of time for you during the weekends,” Obama said, according to ABC News. “They have sleepovers and dates. So all that early investment just leaves them to go away.”

It appears Obama was speaking about Malia and not his youngest daughter, Sasha, since he referenced a child growing to be 5-foot-10. News reports indicate that Malia is around that height.

But whether Obama was speaking about children in general and not Malia having dates is anyone’s guess.

Zachary Goldfarb, White House reporter for The Washington Post, offered his take on Twitter.

“POTUS just suggested that his older daughter is going out on dates … or at least it's on his mind,” he wrote Thursday.

On Twitter, users are in a frenzy over the speculation as the first children grow up before our eyes.

“Apparently, Malia has started dating. Who's gonna be the one to try to mack on Obama's daughter?” wrote Wesley Gibson.

“Is Malia Obama really dating OMG!” exclaimed @MzSweetp2u.

Some users questioned what type of boys Malia’s parents would accept as she hits the dating scene.

“I wonder if Mr. #Obama would approve of Malia dating someone who isn't a #liberal / Democrat,” opined Matt Soleyn.

Others were nonplussed about the possibility of Malia dating.

“Malia Obama is dating #BFD,” said Christina Pimental.
