Man Jailed For Raping 13-Year-Old Daughter, Forcing Son To Rape Mother
A man in Singapore who repeatedly raped his teen daughter for over six years and forced his teen son to rape the boy's mother twice has been sentenced to jail.
The 41-year-old man was sentenced Monday to 29 years in jail and 24 strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to three charges of rape, sexual assault and abetting by instigating his son to rape. The man's identity has not been revealed to protect the identities of the victims, The Straits Times reported.
The court heard that the man started performing sexual acts on his daughter in 2013 when the girl was just nine years old. The sexual abuse continued for years and the girl was raped until the age of 13. The victim did not speak to her mother about the abuse fearing for her mother's safety if her parents fought.
She eventually shared her ordeal with her older brother who advised her not to give in to the assaults. But the boy also could not reveal it to anyone fearing he would be beaten for ruining the family's reputation.
The court heard that in 2018, the man forced his 15-year-old son to rape his mother while she was drunk and unconscious. Even though the boy refused to oblige, his father forced him and assisted in the act.
After attending a sexual education talk in her school, the girl realized what her father was doing to her was wrong. She then confided to her aunt, who reported it to the police on Nov. 2, 2019.
The man was eventually arrested and the years of abuse the victims suffered came to light. Meanwhile, the man told the investigators that he raped his daughter as he did not want her to have sex with any other men.
"He thought if she wanted to have sex with anyone, it should be with him and not any other (man)," the prosecutor said in court, reported Channel News Asia.
The prosectors also observed that the case was "unprecedented in its complete and perverse desecration of all familial ties by the accused, against his biological children and their mother."
