Man Kills 4 Family Members Of Minor Daughter's Boyfriend After Learning About Their Relationship

A man in India fatally shot four family members of his minor daughter's boyfriend after learning about their relationship.

On Sunday morning, the accused, identified as Sukhjinder Singh, found out his daughter, a grade 10 student, was in a relationship with 20-year-old Harmandeep Singh. This enraged the man, who immediately picked up his gun and drove off on his motorbike in search of Harmandeep. The incident took place in the northern state of Punjab, local daily The Indian Express reported.

The man found Harmandeep's father and uncle working in the field. He then took out his gun and opened fire at them before driving toward Harmandeep’s home and shooting his cousin and grandfather. The accused then shot at Harmandeep and his cousin.

"When Sukhjinder saw Harmandeep’s father Sukhwinder and uncle Jasbir Singh in their field, he opened fire at them, resulting in their deaths. He then went towards the family’s house and saw Harmandeep’s grandfather Mangal Singh and cousin Babandeep. He opened fire, killing both of them. After this, he shot Harman and his cousin Jashanpreet," a police officer told local daily Hindustan Times.

Harmandeep and Jashanpreet were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. They were reported to be in a stable condition.

The accused, who fled the scene after the shooting, remained on the run as of Sunday evening. The police have opened a case of murder against the Sukhwinder.

Senior police officer Rashpal Singh told Hindustan Times that several investigative teams have collected the evidence from the scene, and a hunt was on to nab the accused.

In April, a man in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh killed six family members of a person named Vijay, who allegedly cheated on his daughter and married another woman. When Vijay had gone to another town to attend a wedding, the accused barged into his home and hacked his six family members, including a 6-month-old infant and a 2-year-old toddler, to death. He then went to a nearby police station and surrendered himself.
