In a shocking incident, a man murdered his second wife's parents to exact revenge against her for allegedly betraying him.
The incident happened in the Indian town of Lucknow. The police arrested the accused, Ram Milan, Sunday in connection with the murders of Buddhi Bahadur and Beena, reported The Times Of India.
The incident came to light after the murdered couple's son Suraj Thapa approached police to file a missing person's complaint on April 25. He is the brother of Milan's wife Tamanna.
According to a senior police official, the search for the elderly couple ended with the recovery of their bodies from the outskirts. The bodies were identified by Suraj through their clothes.
Suspicion soon fell on Milan. He was put under surveillance and later arrested after police obtained proof of his involvement in the couple's death. An SUV, which is suspected to have been used in the crime, was also recovered from his possession.
Upon further questioning, Milan confessed to murdering the couple, The Shillong Times said in a report.
Milan first got married in 2012, police said. He then embarked on a successful business of organizing dance parties in nearby villages. It was then that he met Tamanna, who is from Nepal. The duo began seeing each other and soon got married despite Milan being married to someone else.
However, the relationship went sour after Tamanna met someone else. She began an affair with the man, who hailed from the nearby state of Bihar. She soon eloped with him.
By then, Ram Milan's business too began to flounder. Already reeling under the financial crisis, he was enraged by his wife's betrayal. He began to track down the couple. It was then that he came to know about Tamanna's parents moving to India from Nepal.
Police said Milan drove his SUV to Lucknow along with his accomplice on April 24. He then abducted the couple and took them to the outskirts before murdering them and disposing of their bodies.
The search is on for Milan's accomplice in the crime, Durgesh, who is absconding.
In a similar case, a man murdered six family members of a person who allegedly cheated on his daughter. Police said the man's daughter was in a relationship with a youth named Vijay. The duo was set to marry, but Vijay left her for another woman. Enraged by the betrayal, the father hacked six family members of Vijay, including two infants, to death.
