Man Rapes 3 Minor Girls In 10 Days, Kills 3-Year-Old And Sexually Abuses Corpse

A man in India has been arrested after he admitted to raping three minor girls, all within 10 days, and murdering one of them before sexually abusing her corpse, police said.

The suspect, 26-year-old Vijay Thakor from the Indian state of Gujarat, was arrested after he admitted raping three girls aged three, five and seven, from the same locality after abducting them on separate instances. Thakor also admitted that he killed his third victim, a 3-year-old girl, and raped her dead body before dumping it in a culvert, The Times of India reported.

The shocking crimes came to light after police launched an investigation earlier this month based on a complaint from a 5-year-old girl's family. The girl's family said that an unidentified man kidnapped the girl from their locality on Nov. 4 and left her in a secluded place later that day. A medical examination proved that the girl was raped, said Abhay Chudusama, a senior investigating officer.

Two days after the incident was reported, police received another complaint about a missing 3-year-old girl from the same locality, who was abducted from her home while the family was asleep. Police reviewed the CCTV footage of the area and traced Thakor, who works as a laborer in the area, as the possible perpetrator behind both the crimes. Thakor confessed to the crimes during interrogation, police said, as per She The People.

Thakor told police that he decided to kill the 3-year-old as she made noise and cried for help when he attempted to assault her. Police recovered the victim's remains from the culvert.

During the investigation, Thakor further revealed that he had also raped a 7-year-old girl from the same locality. "Thakor had first snatched the girl's mobile phone forcing her to follow him. He then abducted her and raped her. A detailed investigation about Thakor's criminal past is on," the investigating officer told The Times of India.

Last month, a Louisiana man pleaded guilty to strangling and sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl from his locality while he kept the girl locked in the basement of his apartment. James Brian Chadwell II of Lafayette admitted that he lured the girl to his apartment using his pet dog and hit her head multiple times when she resisted his sexual assaults.
