Man Smashes Mother's Skull Into Pieces After Beheading Her, Says 'Devil' Did It

A man in Nigeria was arrested Monday for beheading his mother.

According to local reports, the accused, identified as 47-year-old Sunday Agwim, killed his 62-year-old mother, Christiana Agwim before beheading her using a machete. He then smashed her skull with a hammer.

Confirming the incident, Jude Mbionwu, a security coordinator at Umuobom, said the accused completely broke the skull using the hammer after beheading the victim.

“When we got to the suspect’s house, we saw him with a hammer and machete which he used first to cut off the head of the victim and then used the hammer to break the skull into pieces beyond recognition,” he said, adding that an autopsy was conducted following which the body was buried.

Meanwhile, an unidentified police source told during interrogation, the accused said he didn’t know why he committed the crime.

“It is the devil because I did not know what came upon to kill my mother,” the accused told the investigators. The investigation into the case is ongoing following which the accused will be charged with the crime.

The incident comes to light less than a month after a Kenyan man beheaded his wife during an argument. Lucy Waithera was attending to a woman at her salon when her unidentified husband visited her. When the two began arguing, the customer excused herself to the bathroom, leaving her three-year-old son behind. When she returned, she found “ Waithera’s head chopped off and her child standing in a pool of blood."
