Man Who 'Sought To Scare Wife With Gun' Ends Up Killing Her; Charged

A Texas man has been charged with murder after he fatally shot his pregnant wife over a domestic dispute.
Deputies with The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call Tuesday at a residence just north of Cumby and found the victim, identified as Margaret Ann Sanders, with a gunshot wound to her torso, KETK-TV reported, citing authorities. Margaret, who was believed to be pregnant, was airlifted to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, the outlet reported.
"Law enforcement arrived on scene and found Margret Ann Sanders had suffered a gunshot wound to her torso," My Paris Texas reported, citing a law enforcement statement.
"Emergency Medical Services provided medical care and airlifted the patient to a hospital for further treatment."
"During the early morning hours, Mrs. Sanders succumbed to the injuries sustained from the gunshot wound. Further, an investigation revealed the victim is believed to have been pregnant," The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Tanner Crump said in the release, according to My Paris Texas.
Margaret's husband, Jason Cory Sanders, 43, was taken into custody and charged with capital murder, as well as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence and tampering with physical evidence, KLTV reported.
Jason told investigators he sought to scare his wife by firing in the air but a projectile accidentally hit the latter, causing her death, according to Sulphur Springs News-Telegram. The suspect is reportedly being held in the Hopkins County Jail on a $2 million bond.
While interrogation, Jason told deputies that he needed to call his boss but deputies saw him deleting Facebook chats with his wife, Sulphur Springs News-Telegram reported.
