'The Mandalorian': Disney, Lucasfilm Launch 'Mando Mondays’ Ahead Of Season 2 Premiere

“The Mandalorian” is undoubtedly one of the biggest shows from isney and is set to come back on the small screen with a sophomore season. To make things even more exciting, Disney and Lucasfilm have decided to launch an initiative called “Mando Mondays” in celebration of the blockbuster TV series.
The event will start on Oct. 26 and will be a 9-week program, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. In the nine weeks, fans would be able to buy toys and merchandise that could not before. The event will also debut new products after every seven days.
Apart from new toys, “Mando Mondays” will also showcase apparel, collectibles, comics, book, and more digital content.
Speaking further about the event, Kareem Daniel, president of consumer products, games, and publishing at Disney, explained why they decided to come up with the new event. Daniel said that the show became a “phenomenon” when it came out and a lot of fans expressed their desire to buy products related to the characters that they love from the show.
“When ‘The Mandalorian’ debuted last year on Disney+, the show became an instant phenomenon, with fans of all ages expressing excitement for products related to its iconic characters – particularly the Child. This fall, as the world continues to watch the narrative unfold, we will further bring this unique ‘Star Wars' story to life through a must-have selection of toys, books, comics, digital content, and more,” THR quoted Daniel, as saying.
Some of the items like bobbleheads and figurines are already up for pre-orders.
The news comes a couple of days after the show claimed multiple trophies at this year’s Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Visual Effects and Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Serie.
The trailer for the second season has garnered a lot of attention from the fans and has already been viewed 8.9 million times on YouTube. The clip seemingly ensured fans that they can expect to see a lot of action sequences this time around and some new characters will also be introduced in the upcoming season.
The first season was a huge success and currently holds a score of 93% on review site Rotten Tomatoes.
“The Mandalorian” Season 2 premieres on Oct. 30.
