Marie Osmond Has Big Plans After Leaving ‘The Talk’
Marie Osmond’s time on the daytime show “The Talk” has come to an end. On Wednesday, Osmond announced her decision to depart from the series and teased her big plans for the future.
Osmond, who joined the CBS program in 2019, confirmed her exit in a statement via Facebook.
“One of the highlights of my year at #TheTalk was working with my dear friend John Redmann (former EP and showrunner), and I’m excited to continue our working relationship on several projects we are developing,” she wrote.
Outside of her business plans, Osmond also shared she wants to spend more time with family.
“Also, my husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, we looked at each other, laughed & remembered we hadn’t been this alone together since 1982!! So, at this stage of my life, I’m looking forward to spending more time with him & visiting all the kids/grandkids,” she added.
Osmond’s exit isn’t the first to shake up the cast of “The Talk,” which is co-hosted by Sharon Osbourne, Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Sheryl Underwood.
When Osmond first joined the cast, she was replacing former co-host Sara Gilbert. In April 2019, the “Roseanne” star shocked audience members when she announced that she would be leaving the show.
“This is something that I have been struggling with for a while and going back and forth, but I’ve decided that it’s time for me to leave the show at the end of this season,” she said at the time, as reported by USA Today. “I obviously love it here, and like I said, this was extremely difficult.”
Like Osmond, Gilbert admitted that she too wanted to spend more time with family. “Last season, I did ‘The Conners’ and was also producing and [hosting] here. I loved it and felt totally empowered, but also, if I’m being honest about it, my life was slightly out of balance. I wasn’t able to spend as much time with my three kids as I’d like, or take time for myself.”
Gilbert’s exit came a few months after Julie Chen’s September 2018 departure from “The Talk.” At the time, Chen’s husband, Leslie Moonves, was fired from CBS following multiple accusations of sexual harassment.
