‘Married At First Sight’ Baby: Jamie Otis, Doug Hehner Post First Photos
Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner have plenty to celebrate. Aside from being one of the few couples to stay together after meeting at the altar on “Married at First Sight,” they also just welcomed a new baby. They shared pictures of their little girl on Instagram to celebrate.
Henley Grace Hehner was born at 5:24 a.m. Tuesday, People reports. The first “Married at First Sight” baby weighed in at 8 lbs., 2 oz. and was 20.2 inches long.
While photos have not showed off the little girl’s face, viewers can see Doug holding his little bundle of joy. Another photo shows the parents’ hands with Henley’s tiny fingers.
It looks like Jamie is the one taking photos. A third photo shows Doug staring at his newborn while she sleeps.
The couple is overjoyed about having a baby, especially after Jamie suffered a miscarriage last year. The former “Married at First Sight” star was very open about grieving the loss of her son, Johnathan. The couple has also been sure to mention what it’s like entering a second pregnancy after miscarrying the first time. They even did a “rainbow baby” (a common term for babies conceived after a miscarriage) themed maternity shoot.
“My hubby and I found out we were pregnant with our rainbow baby on December 20th, 2016,” Otis wrote on her blog. “That was Johnathan’s due date. I have no words for this amazing ‘coincidence.’ I’m not usually superstitious or overly spiritual, but I truly believe our rainbow baby was a gift sent down from heaven from her big brother, Johnny.”
Otis’ family even made a special nursery decoration to honor Johnathan. “My sister’s mother in law made me these beautiful, golden angel wings as a little something to have in Henley’s room as a sign that her big brother is always with her watching over her and protecting her. They will be hanging on the wall next to her crib,” the “Unfiltered” host told Us Weekly.
While Jamie and Doug are celebrating happy news, not every “Married At First Sight” couple is so lucky. A Season 5 duo recently revealed their split. Cody Knapek and Danielle DeGroot announced that they are getting divorced. The two had trouble connecting on the show and it seems they still had issues after the cameras left.
“After a year of marriage, and much thought and consideration, we are deeply saddened to announce that we’ve decided to go our separate ways,” the reality stars told People. “We remain the closest of friends, and have enjoyed sharing our lives with our ‘Married at First Sight’ family.”
“We value and respect marriage, but life is short and we also value happiness,” Danielle added on Instagram. “While this was a difficult decision and divorce is not something either of us hoped for, we decided we will be happiest separating. Still got nothin’ but love for @codyknapek!”
Jamie and Doug are one of the only couples to survive “Married at First Sight,” which wrapped up its fifth season on Lifetime earlier this summer. Cortney and Jason Carrion married Season 1 as well and are still together. Ashley Petta and Anthony D’Amico are still married after meeting at the altar in Season 5. Sheila Downs and Nate Duhon also just passed the one-year mark.
“Married at First Sight” Season 6 is filming in Boston.
