‘Married At First Sight’ Divorce: Nick And Sonia Split
“Married at First Sight” couple Nick Pendergrast and Sonia Granados stayed together at the end of Season 4, but unfortunately, it wasn’t a match made in heaven. After nearly a year of marriage, the couple is getting divorced.
Nick and Sonia entered a blind arranged marriage on FYI’s reality show “Married at First Sight.” Experts paired the two together, and they had six weeks to figure out if they were really soul mates. At the end of the process, the two decided that they would stay together. In the reunion special six months later, the couple still seemed to be going strong.
However, Nick and Sonia revealed Wednesday on Twitter that they decided to get a divorce. They thanked fans for support during “this difficult time,” and emphasized that they had no regrets about participating in “Married at First Sight.”
The divorce announcement comes less than two weeks before their one year anniversary. The two wed on April 1, 2016.

Throughout “Married at First Sight” Season 4, fans were unsure of Nick and Sonia’s future. Their relationship was plagued by fights and trust issues early on. Sonia even moved out after a fight. By the end of the show, it seemed like they were headed on the path to success. Yet Sonia made it clear that six months into the relationship, they still weren’t in love.
“I love Nick very much, but I’m not in love with him… just yet,” she told The Knot in November.
They made it much longer than their fellow Season 4 couple Derek Schwartz and Heather Seidel. They broke up during the honeymoon, and most of “Married at First Sight” chronicled their split.
Tom Wilson and Lillian Vilchez are the only couple from Season 4 who remain married. Jason and Cortney Carrion as well as Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner, both Season 1 couples, are the only other marriages to survive after the show.
Sonia told International Business Times last year that she believed she would be able to avoid the fate of most other “MAFS” couples. “Although I knew that only two had made it, I’m different and you know, in my mind I’m going to try harder than them,” she said in July.
“Married at First Sight” Season 5 will return this spring to pair three new couples.
