‘Married At First Sight’ Divorcees Are Looking For Love In New TV Series
“Married at First Sight” Season 3 ended entirely in divorces, but two participants are still looking for a happy ending. David Norton and Vanessa Nelson will be getting their own FYI reality show, “Married at First Sight: Second Chances.”
In the new spinoff, David and Vanessa will not marry a stranger again. They’re keeping it a little more traditional this time by dating before walking down the aisle. The pair, whose divorces have been finalized, will each have a selection of suitors vying for their attention in Atlanta. Participants “will take part in multiple rounds of dating and courtship in an attempt to win the hearts of these two eligible singles,” according to a press release.
“MAFS” fans will remember that David was married to Ashley Doherty, who never really warmed up to him. David actually said he wanted to remain married, but Ashley wanted to breakup. At the end of the season, the account executive noted that he still believed in love.
Meanwhile, Vanessa and Tres Russell felt sparks immediately. However, their flame went out just as quickly. Though they decided to stay together after the initial six weeks of filming, they’d broken up by the time the six-month reunion special was filmed. They were encouraged to give their relationship another shot, but Vanessa said it ultimately didn’t work out.
“Some things cannot be repaired, and some things you should just let go,” Vanessa told Us Weekly in March. “Marriage is a strong concept that makes you want to keep trying and stay dedicated. Tres made it clear that he was not interested in reconciling, and I am fine with that.”
The two will still have the advice of the experts in “Married at First Sight: Second Chances.” Sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz will help them once again, and they’ll also receive guidance from the new “MAFS” Season 4 experts, Pastor Calvin Roberson and communication expert Rachel DeAlto.
David is excited to try to find love on FYI again. “I am grateful to be given a second chance at finding love and can’t wait to share my journey with the fans of ‘Married at First Sight,’” Norton explained to People. “I’m excited to experience this next chapter in the story of finding ‘Mrs. Right.’ Hopefully this next chapter will be the last!”
“Second Chances” is the second spinoff “Married at First Sight” has produced. The first, “Married at First Sight: The First Year,” follows the two couples who have stayed married after meeting at the altar.
“Married at First Sight: Second Chances” premieres in 2017. “Married at First Sight” Season 4 is currently airing Tuesdays at 8:45 p.m. EDT on FYI.
