‘Married At First Sight’ Season 5 Spoilers: Nate Takes Care Of Sheila In Episode 7
The “Married at First Sight” are officially cohabitating. After finding new places, each couple moved in together in Season 5, episode 7. While Nate Duhon and Sheila Downs grew closer, the other couples hit a few bumps in the road on the Lifetime reality show.
Danielle and Cody
These two seem happy, but Danielle DeGroot is still so nervous about her dogs behaving. Cody Knapek senses this, but he loves them already. Still, he knows he needs to bring up the idea of training the dogs at some point.
Sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz visits and knows the dogs are a challenge. However, Danielle knows her pups need some discipline, and Cody is really great with them. She thinks it might be an obstacle that bonds them.

Danielle tells Dr. Pepper that she isn’t super attracted to Cody yet. She wants him to be more dominant and stereotypically manly. Cody knows that Danielle wants to see more leadership from him, but he seems to like equal partnership.
They have a big gathering with both of their families, and everyone is very supportive of the “Married at First Sight” couple. They all get along wonderfully. Cody’s brother even started dating Danielle’s maid of honor Angie. Unlike Danielle’s parents, Angie has some tough questions for Cody. She wants to make sure he’s the right guy for her, but she isn’t so sure.
Before a girls night out, Danielle tells Angie that she doesn’t know how to feel about Cody. She isn’t sure they’re really going to fall in love. She doesn’t want to always be the one pulling him out of the comfort zone, but she has to wait and see if a spark develops.
Sheila and Nate
Sheila is excited to move into her new place with Nate and his brother Tyrique, but she lays down some ground rules for the college student. He has to keep his bathroom clean and knock when doors are closed. The big rule, however, is a shock to the young man: No women are allowed over.
Tyrique disagrees with that right away, but Nate seems fine with it. “I’ll buy you a new bottle of lotion a month,” Nate offers. Overall, they seem to have a fun night. Nate says he’s falling for his wife more every day.
The next day, Sheila wakes up with a stomach bug. Nate takes the opportunity to show that he can take care of her. He cooks and cleans and lays on the floor with her, and it impresses his wife.
“Nate has an uncanny ability to make me feel loved and special and important,” Sheila says.
When Dr. Pepper checks in with the couple, Nate and Sheila recount their honeymoon fights and their family issues. The “Married at First Sight” expert suggests bringing their families over for dinner. Getting to know their spouses’ families will give a lot of insight into how they grew up.
When Sheila’s family came over, she talks about the recent family drama. Her sister didn’t attend the wedding because her boyfriend wasn’t invited. Her father sides with her sister. A wedding is supposed to be about family. Nate tries to back up Sheila and gets into a loud disagreement with Sheila’s father.
“We already had a couple bumps in the road, and I’m worried that one more thing like this, I could see my whole marriage falling apart,” Nate says.
Ashley and Anthony
These two are having a good time moving in, but Ashley Petta reveals that she isn’t so into the idea of taking Anthony D’Amico’s last name. She feels like she’s losing part of her identity if she completely ditches her surname. Anthony just doesn’t understand her argument. He wants Ashley to be Ashley D’Amico, but Ashley says they have a lot of options to go over. They decide to drop the issue.
Their disagreement doesn’t get in the way of their first night in their new home, though. Ashley and Anthony cuddle up for their first night in their new bed.
Dr. Pepper visits them and says they were matched based on how much they want families. Anthony notes that he isn’t sure when he wants to have kids, but Ashley is far more certain. She previously said she wants to start trying to get pregnant in the near future. Anthony is more cautious.
Later, Ashley’s family comes over, and Anthony clearly has an issue with Ashley’s sister Lauren interfering in her life. He wasn’t thrilled with Lauren sending his wife shark articles while they were on their honeymoon.
At a barbeque with Ashley’s whole family, Lauren hears that they signed a short-term lease for their apartment. She wants Ashley and Anthony to be her neighbors, and the new husband is getting frustrated.
“Married at First Sight” Season 5 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on Lifetime.
