‘Married At First Sight’ Stars Greg And Deonna Are Planning A Family
Lifetime continue to check in with the couples who are still together on “Married At First Sight: Couples’ Cam,” and one duo revealed they’re planning to expand their family soon. Greg Okotie and Deonna McNeill have made it clear on “Couples’ Cam” that they want to have a baby, and they told International Business Times that they’re hoping to do so this year. They told IBT (via email) all about the new show, their pandemic game night and how they’re expanding their family and business this year.
International Business Times: Why did you want to be part of “Married At First Sight: Couples’ Cam”?
Greg and Deonna: We wanted to be a part of Couples’ Cam because a lot of our fans have been inquiring about our lives since the show ended. When we were approached to be a part of this, we thought that this would be a great opportunity for us to share an update. Fans can expect to see us having fun, sharing plenty of laughter, managing stress, doing everything from home and trying to manage it all, while staying sane.
IBT: How has your relationship changed since viewers last saw your marriage on TV in "Married at First Sight" Season 9?
Greg and Deonna: Since fans last saw us, we’ve added a few different titles to our names like business partners, we’ve started our own t-shirt line, Akpesiri, and we’ve become an uncle and auntie to our nephew. Overall, we’ve been staying super busy.
IBT: Are you close to any couples from other seasons of “Married at First Sight”? Do you go to other alums for advice?
Greg and Deonna: Yes, we’re still close with Jamie [Thompson] and Beth [Bice] from our season. We keep in touch to see how things are going since they moved across the country. So far we haven’t asked any of the other alums for advice, but this is definitely a good idea.
IBT: What was the most unexpected way your life changed after “Married at First Sight”?
Greg and Deonna: The most unexpected way that our life has changed since “Married at First Sight” was us becoming an aunt and uncle.
IBT: Aside from meeting your spouse, what was the best part of being on the show? What is your favorite memory from “MAFS” Season 9?
Greg and Deonna: The best part of being on the show was having the support system of our production team and the experts. They were all so great to work with and really supported us through the process.
Our favorite memory from our season was our honeymoon to Antigua. We were getting comfortable with the cameras, learning our new spouses and going on adventures together.
IBT: How has social distancing and/or being in lockdown affected your relationship recently?
Greg and Deonna: Being in lockdown hasn’t really affected us, but it has shown us that we need to recharge separately to be our best selves for one another.
IBT: When was your last date night and what did you do?
Greg and Deonna: [On] our last date, we played a Monopoly. This was our first time playing a board game together, and it was just us, with no TV or music, just us.
IBT: How do people react when you tell them how you and your spouse met?
Greg and Deonna: For those that haven’t seen the show, they are usually shocked. They tend to have a lot of questions, like, why would you do that, is it real, was it scary, etc. It’s always fun to see their reactions.
IBT: What are your plans for the future? Babies, house hunting, career moves?
Greg and Deonna: We plan on starting a family sometime later this year, but until then, we are continuing to grow our business.
IBT: What advice do you have for people who want to be on “Married at First Sight”?
Greg and Deonna: Be honest! Be honest with yourself and the experts. You learn a lot about yourself as you go through the process and self-awareness is key. The experts are looking for your ideal match based on what you share with them, so be honest in what you’re looking for, otherwise, you might be mismatched.
“Married At First Sight: Couples’ Cam” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Lifetime.
