Mary-Kate Olsen Divorce Update: Olivier Sarkozy Wanted Wife To Be ‘More Available’

Mary-Kate Olsen's husband Olivier Sarkozy reportedly wanted her to be more available.

On Wednesday (May 13), Olsen requested an emergency order to file for divorce from Sarkozy. An insider spoke about the couple’s marriage and said that Sarkozy wanted Olsen to be more available because she’s been too busy.

“She's super career focused and he's very French and wanted her to be more available,” a source told People.

“You can't control a girl who has been on the billionaire track since her 20s.”

Olsen has a lot on her plate because she has several businesses. The former child star runs two luxury fashion brands with her twin sister Ashley Olsen, The Row and Elizabeth and James.

Olsen’s fashion empire is not only popular, it is also critically acclaimed. In fact, the Olsen twins received the coveted Womenswear Designers of the Year Award in 2012 and 2015. In 2019, they were named the Accessory Designer of the Year for The Row for the second consecutive year.

The claims about Olsen being workaholic is not new. An insider told Us Weekly about this when she started going out with Sarkozy.

“MK is constantly complaining about boys not being mature enough for her,” the insider said.

“She got the kids out of her system. Now being a businesswoman dominates her time, and she is rarely impressed with guys.”

Olsen’s lawyers recently received an email from Sarkozy’s husband ordering her to move out of their shared home in New York City by May 18. She fears for her safety because finding a new apartment at present is challenging due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She was advised to file a divorce petition because it would "trigger an automatic court order preventing him from disposing of her property."

Olsen and Sarkozy have a 17-year age gap, but they didn’t let it get in the way of their romance, which began after they first met at a party. They were very much in love a few years ago, according to sources.

They have been together since 2012. In February 2014, Sarkozy proposed to Olsen and they got engaged.

They tied the knot in a small, private ceremony in New York in 2015.
