Meghan Markle had no intention to stay in the U.K. and even wanted to leave after her royal wedding, according to a veteran royal photographer.
Royal photographer Arthur Edwards claimed that the Duchess of Sussex had no plans to live in the U.K. He was also convinced that Markle wanted to leave the country right after marrying Prince Harry.
“I think the moment she married Harry it was ‘right, let’s get out of here as quick as we can’,” Edwards said on TalkRadio, as quoted by Express.
“I mean, it was ridiculous.”
Edwards has been following Prince Harry as a royal photographer. According to him, Prince William’s brother also changed after dating and marrying Markle.
“Unfortunately for the last couple of years, he has gone completely sour,” he said.
“He didn’t talk to me for a year. I’ve been photographing him since he was born, and it was down to her.”
Edwards said Prince Harry was a fantastic person before Markle. But the duke has completely gone the other way after meeting his wife.
Edwards also disapproved of Prince Harry’s statement about the Commonwealth. In a video call about “justice and equal rights,” Prince Harry said the Commonwealth should acknowledge its past even if it’s “uncomfortable.” Markle agreed and added that it’s a time of “reckoning” and people should “own” their past mistakes.
“Prince Harry is entitled to his views. But in criticising the Commonwealth – the organisation closest to his grandmother’s heart – he has simply lost the plot,” Edwards said.
“To criticise the one thing the Queen cherishes above all things, which is preserving the Commonwealth, is an insult to her — no matter what the palace may say officially. Any country can look back and find faults, but we learn from history and move on.”
Meanwhile, Edwards is not the only person who thinks that Markle had no plans to settle for good in the U.K. According to Lady Colin Campbell, the duchess has a political ambition and it has always been part of her plans to return to Los Angeles.
“I think everything she is doing, leaving the royal family and moving back to California is part of her plan and she has taken Harry along with her,” Campbell said.
