Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are the second Wallis and King Edward, according to a netizens.

Omid Scobie shared snapshots of the statements from the Queen and Buckingham Palace announcing that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are required to step back from all of their royal duties including their official military appointments on Twitter. Also, they will no longer use their HRH titles as they are not working members of the royal family anymore.

The announcement gained various reactions from the netizens. One online user mocked the couple and compared them to King Edward who abdicated the throne to be with his love Wallis Simpson.

“It's funny how they mentioned in the first statement that they will keep doing some duties, keep titles while enjoying their life without following the rules but the queen decision was totally different she kicked them out now they're officially the second Wallis and Edward,” @anneHelena14 commented.

Another online user wrote that the incident has nothing to do with Markle’s race but nationality. She was a “second rate American actress” who married his way into the royalty and turned her nose up at it “just like Wallis Simpson.”

“The queen is experiencing her second trauma. After 85 years. 1936. King Edward VIII abdication by Wallis Simpson. American, divorced twice,” a different online user opined.

Prior to the announcement, there are already rumors that Queen Elizabeth II would stripped Prince Harry and Markle of their royal titles. On Monday, Her Majesty called Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry for a four-way meeting to discuss the Sussexes’ future after they announced their resignation in Sandringham.

Following the crisis talk, the Queen released a personal statement saying that they support Prince Harry and Markle’s decision. She mentioned their names several times in her statement but never used their royal titles.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry offended royal fans when he used Stone Roses’ “This Is The One” song on Instagram to mark his final engagement. Many deemed the song offensive because part of its lyrics read, “I’d like to leave the country for a month of Sundays. Burn the town where I was born.” Royal followers felt that the duke was hinting that he couldn’t wait to leave the U.K. Prince Harry’s wife and son are in Canada.
