Meghan Markle Reportedly An ‘Over The Hill Actress,’ Career ‘Failure’ Before Wedding
Meghan Markle was reportedly an “over the hill actress” before she married Prince Harry, according to a biographer.
The Duchess of Sussex had a rough start when she was still trying to make a name for herself in Hollywood. Markle struggled before she landed her role on USA Network’s “Suits,” which catapulted her to fame.
In Channel 5’s documentary “ Meghan & The Markles: A Family At War,” royal biographer Andrew Morton revisited Markle’s acting career. He also pointed out how Markle’s parents helped her until she found her place in the showbiz industry.
“Let's not forget that, for ten years, her budding career as an actress was something of a failure,” Morton said. “She was kind of, at 30, over the hill, in Hollywood terms, when she got this gig in ‘Suits.’”
Morton acknowledged Markle’s determination and attributed it to her dad, Thomas Markle Sr.
“The fact that she kept on going on, the fact that she went to all these rehearsals and auditions without the prospect of work showed that kind of determination that her father imbued in her and that has propelled her to where she is today,” the royal expert said.
Markle was struggling with her acting career and had to audition for parts in movies, ads and game shows for almost a decade. Her mom and dad backed her through it all.
Markle was one of the briefcase girls in “Deal or No Deal“ Season 2. The Duchess of Sussex considered her stint on the show as something she did to “make ends meet.” She admitted that it was one of the things she would put in the category of things she did as an auditioning actress. She added that it was “terribly uncomfortable“ to stand in an inexpensive five-inch heels waiting for the player to pick her number so she could sit down.
There were rumors that Markle was the person behind the infamous diary of “The Working Actress.” The blog became a “must-read” for budding actors as the author shared her different struggles, from auditioning to taking on roles that she didn’t like.
The writer didn’t reveal her identity and only called herself “the working actress.“ Many were convinced that the woman was Markle because the author stopped writing without any word to her followers in the summer of 2012. However, before that, she shared her excitement over getting her biggest break in a new TV series, which many believed was around the same time Markle joined “Suits.”
