Meghan Markle A 'Social Climber,' Claims Piers Morgan; Netizens Defend Duchess
Meghan Markle is a social climber, according to Piers Morgan.
Morgan may have ended his friendship with the Duchess of Sussex after his recent statements mocking Markle's quality as a friend. According to Morgan when he appeared on "The Late Late Show," he was in constant communication with the former "Suits" star, but their contact ended when she started dating Prince Harry.
"I put her in the cab and it turned out to be a cab that took her to a party where she met Prince Harry," he said (via Express). "The next night they had a solo dinner together and that was the last I ever heard from Meghan Markle. And I never heard from her again. She ghosted me. Meghan Markle ghosted me."
"I really liked her, I just think she is a slight social climber, I'm afraid. At her wedding, there was just one member of her family there, the rest couldn't be risked, it was considered too dangerous," he continued. "But I didn't really like being ghosted like that, it was a bit of strange thing to do."
A number of citizens took to Twitter to support Markle. They find Morgan's obsession with the duchess creepy.
"That's crazy. His obsession with the Duchess is annoying," one user posted.
"Gurlfriend (sic) - get over it. One drink at a pub does not make you friends. You were a high profile fan of the show that she indulged! If she was a social climber, she wouldn't choose loose lips like you, she'd aspire higher! Your creepy obsession over her is crazy!" one fan wrote.
"He needs to grow up. Having a drink with her one time is not a friendship. Why should she be in contact with Piers especially the fact he works for DailyMail that wrote disgusting racist and sexist articles about her. And really, he’s calling her a social climber?!" another fan commented.
"People get to know him, then avoid him. That's just cause and effect," another user wrote.
Markle's controversial sister, Samantha, also joined the discussion by sharing a report about Morgan slamming Markle for disowning their father. "I suppose you think IRS Morgan is he full for speaking out also. People who are wronged to have a right to speak out," she wrote on Twitter.
