Meghan Markle and her dad, Thomas Markle Sr., have not spoken to each other in over a year. But their recent issues weren’t the first time that they had a falling out.

In the book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” royal author Andrew Morton claimed that the father and daughter’s first serious falling out took place during the summer before Markle attended Northwestern University.

During that time, Prince Harry’s wife was very troubled because she and her dad just didn’t get along. As such, she started to avoid him.

“The emotional shutters had come down. Meghan went to stay with her mom and did not even with her father’s house to pick up her mail. It was a situation that perplexed friends, as they knew that Meghan was the apple of her father’s eye and could get away with blue murder,” Morton said.

The royal author didn’t divulge the reason behind the Duchess of Sussex and Thomas’ falling out years ago. But it is possible that this left a huge dent in their otherwise peaceful relationship.

But before they had their falling out, Markle was so close to her dad that her half-sister, Samantha Markle, reportedly became jealous of her. The multiple sclerosis patient claimed that Markle boasted about being their dad’s favorite child.

Samantha also said that their dad gave Markle the most expensive gift because she was his favorite. But Samantha and Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr. denied the former’s claims. He said that Samantha had always been bitter and negative.

But Samantha stressed that her dad spent the most time with Markle. And he loved his favorite the most – even more than he loved Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland.

“He spent every single minute he could with her. My dad was more in love with her than anyone else in the world and that included Doria. She became his whole life, his little princess. He was just blown away by Meghan,” she said.
