Meghan Markle Taking Camilla’s Spot Next To Queen Elizabeth At Remembrance Sunday
Meghan Markle may replace Camilla Parker Bowles’ spot next to Queen Elizabeth II at Remembrance Sunday.
The royal family are expected to make a reunion for Sunday’s Remembrance Day ceremony. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be coming together at the Cenotaph in Whitehall for the annual event that aims to honor British servicemen who lost their lives serving the country.
But prior to the royals’ anticipated reunion, the Duchess of Cornwall was set to accompany Prince Harry and Markle on Thursday, but she pulled out due to ill-health. The Clarence House spokesman explained Camilla’s sudden absence at the event where she was expected to be with the Sussexes.
“The Duchess of Cornwall has been told by her doctor to cancel her engagements owing to a chest infection which has got progressively worse over the last few days,” the spokesman said.
Due to Camilla’s condition, some are wondering if she could make it to Sunday’s Remembrance Day ceremony. If the Duchess of Cornwall won’t make it, it’s possible that Markle would replace her spot in the balcony.
“If Camilla is still not well enough to make the engagement on Sunday, it seems likely Meghan could take her place on the balcony next to the Queen,” Express reported.
Last year, many noticed that Markle stood in a different balcony while Kate Middleton and Camilla joined the Queen on the same balcony. The photo of the three royals in one balcony and Markle standing beside German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s wife Elke Budenbender in a different veranda became a hot topic among netizens.
“Is she is on a different balcony because of the supposed incident with the Queen? I don’t think so. I have see her on a trip, on a a balcony, etc with the Queen since then. Plus the balconies look tiny. If Camilla can stand with the Queen so can Meghan,” one wrote on Twitter.
According to People, even if Prince Harry’s wife was on a different balcony, it did not mean that she was slighted. The size of the balcony had nothing to do with it as well. The royals were arranged according to a “pecking order.”
Camilla and Middleton are future queens, so they joined Queen Elizabeth II on the same balcony. Prince Harry is unlikely to be the next monarch since he is way down the line of succession, so Markle was made to stand on a different veranda.
