Meghan Markle Was Ordered By Royal Family To Be Less Outspoken Unlike Kate Middleton
Although Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton currently have different roles in the monarchy, both women were oblivious about how their lives would change when they chose to marry into the royal family.
While Kate Middleton married Prince William in 2011, Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in 2018. However, when Kate married William she didn’t have an established career, which reportedly worried Queen Elizabeth.
In the book “The Making of Romance,” Katie Nicholl claimed the monarch had a private chat with Kate to make sure she had a job before William proposed.
“Privately [the Queen] had grave concerns and believed that Kate needed to have a job and an identity in her own right before an engagement was announced,” she wrote.
“The Queen is one of the hardest-working royals, despite her age, and that a future member of the Royal Family was without a full-time job was unacceptable to her.”
As a result, Kate began dedicating her time to charities and even worked for the fashion house Jigsaw before settling into a position at her family’s business Party Pieces.
Whereas Meghan was starring in the USA Network series “Suits” and was running her blog, The Tig when she began gearing up to marry Prince Harry. At the time, the actress often voiced her political opinions and was a UN women’s advocate.
Upon accepting Prince Harry’s proposal, Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell claimed Meghan would have most likely been asked to stop sharing her beliefs publicly.
“What comes with maturity is a set of beliefs and they don’t sit well with the Royal Family. She has to toe the party line,” Burrell told Yahoo UK’s Royal Box.
Nowadays, fans of the royal family are aware that Prince Harry and Meghan are not interested in following royal tradition. The couple is expected to step down from their senior roles in spring 2020.
