Meghan Markle's close pal, Jessica Mulroney, has debunked rumors claiming that she and the Duchess of Sussex had a falling out in the past months.
On Friday, Sept. 18, Mulroney took to her Instagram Story to clear the air regarding her friendship with Markle. She explained that she keeps in touch with the duchess and condemned the press for allegedly creating a false storyline about them.
"I’m going to tell this once and for all," Mulroney wrote in the since-deleted post. "Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday. Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline. Stop feeding into it. Done."
In June, reports of Markle distancing herself from the stylist began to surface after Mulroney's dispute with influencer Sasha Exeter. The latter came forward with accusations against Mulroney, whom she claimed tried to threaten her livelihood after she took offense to Exeter's post calling on other social media influencers to support the Black Lives Matter movement.
"What happened next was a series of very problematic behavior and antics that ultimately resulted in [Mulroney] sending me a threat in writing last Wednesday," Exeter shared in a video on Instagram.
"Listen, I am by no means calling Jess a racist but what I will say is this, she is very well aware of her wealth, her perceived power and privilege because of the color of her skin," she continued. "And that, my friends, gave her the momentary confidence to come for my livelihood in writing."
Mulroney later apologized to Exeter and went on a social media hiatus for two months.
One source claimed to Page Six that the "row has really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good."
"I don’t know what the tipping point was, but Jess has been on the outs for some time," another insider said of Mulroney and Markle. "Their friendship is definitely not what it was. And really, how can you have such a close friendship when one person is basically making a career out of the friendship?"
When Mulroney returned to social media last month, she shared a snap from Markle’s royal wedding, saying she felt "pure joy" whenever she sees the photo. But she later deleted the post after it received too much attention.
"People often ask why I delete certain posts. The amount of bullying and hatred I’ve had to put up with for 3 years….I’m tired of looking at it," Mulroney explained in a post on her Instagram Story. "Be kind. Be gracious. We are grown ups…stop acting like teenagers. Real women don’t put down other women."
