Meghan Markle’s father has not met her husband, Prince Harry, yet and is unlikely to see her son, Archie, as well.

The Duchess of Sussex has a strained relationship with her family. In fact, she’s not on speaking terms with her own dad, Thomas Markle Sr., and half-siblings Samantha and Thomas Markle Jr.

Thomas has remained silent for months after gracing a series of interviews, but he made a new one recently. In his most recent interview, he revealed that he has not met her daughter’s husband yet. An insider said that it’s unlikely that he will ever meet his son-in-law and grandson given his relationship with Markle at present.

”This was actually a decision she [Markle] made some time ago and it is something she’s now coming to terms with,” a source told The Sun.

“It’s obviously heart-breaking for her but she has to protect herself, her husband and her son. Thomas hasn’t met Harry and it’s unlikely he’ll meet Archie either.”

Thomas revealed that he sent Markle a birthday card via her financial adviser in LA when she turned 38 years old last month. However, he didn’t receive any acknowledgment, so he has no idea if Markle received it. He also added that he wanted the royal couple to send him a photo of Archie, so he could frame it and put it on the wall beside Markle’s.

According to Thomas, he wants to see if Archie “got the famous Markle nose.” He also shared his favorite photo of Markle, which he personally took when she was just 2 years old.

“I took that photograph and I always loved it because of the pensive look on her face,” Thomas said while pointing to Markle’s photo.

“That was my Meggie. We were so close. I would come home from work [he was an award-winning Hollywood lighting director] and I would hold her against my chest and we would walk around for hours and hours.”

Royal expert Robert Jobson encouraged the Duchess of Sussex to talk to her father and resolve their issues. Markle talked about her love for her dad in her defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig. Their relationship got complicated after Thomas agreed to receive cash and stage his photos in the run-up to Prince Harry and Markle’s royal wedding. To make matters worse, he canceled his attendance to the event.
