Meghan Markle’s Parents Receive ‘Very Different Treatments’ From Royal Family, Says Source
Meghan Markle recently invited her mom, Doria Ragland, to the launch of her new cookbook.
Richard Kay, a journalist for Daily Mail, claimed that the royal family’s decision to involve Ragland sent a clear message that the 61-year-old yoga instructor is very much a part of her daughter’s life.
“What Ms. Ragland’s presence indicated about all is just how important she is to Meghan. She is proof that her daughter did not cast her old life aside, as some predicted she would when she became Her Royal Highness on marrying the Queen’s grandson in May,” he wrote.
However, Kay also noted that Ragland’s electrifying appearance at the cookbook launch will only highlight the fact that Markle doesn’t have the same relationship with her dad Thomas Markle Sr. The journalist speculated how painful it must be for the former lighting director to see his ex-wife with their daughter while he’s home alone in Mexico.
Additionally, Kay said that the royal family’s treatment towards Ragland and Thomas may pose some danger.
“The danger for the palace, whose handling of the Markle affair had been little short of disastrous, is that every time Doria is given such special treatment, Thomas Markle is driven further to the margins. His estrangement deepened after a series of interviews in which Markle criticized the Roya Family,” he noted.
Meanwhile, sources inside the palace claimed that Markle sees her ongoing family issues as something that’s deeply personal.
“Meghan doesn’t think it’s a fair game between her father and the media, so she’s not going to engage in it or instruct anyone on her behalf to set the record straight,” the source said.
The unnamed insider added that Markle and Prince Harry are worried that their conversations with Thomas if they decide to reach out to him, will be leaked to the media. After all, Thomas has been giving out interviews ever since Markle and Prince Harry’s engagement was announced last year.
