Meghan Markle reportedly had no regrets over her baby shower despite the backlash she received following the celebration.

Months before baby Archie’s arrival, the Duchess of Sussex flew to New York City to celebrate her baby shower with her closest friends. However, the event was heavily criticized because the $200,000 star-studded baby shower was too extravagant.

Royal commentator Robert Jobson described it as “showbiz style” and added that royals don’t normally do it. Also, Queen Elizabeth II “wouldn’t necessarily want to be all glitzy and all the show.”

However, an insider revealed Markle’s surprising reaction – she didn’t have any regret despite the backlash.

“She doesn’t regret the baby shower in NYC that got so much backlash,” an insider told Us Weekly. “She doesn’t regret celebrating her baby or doing it in NYC.”

Queen Elizabeth II’s former press spokesperson, Dickie Arbiter, explained that baby showers are very much an American thing. He added that the Brits don’t do it and Markle’s celebration was a “bit over the top in terms of expense and the way shot there.”

The first source said that Markle had a difficult time adjusting to her new life. In addition, the U.K. media was not friendly to her, so it was best for her to spend the event in the U.S.

“It’s hard for Meghan in London because the press is so vicious to her there,” the first source said. “This is her life every day. But her mentality is like, well if this is what it’s going to be like, I’m going to do what I want to do. I won’t play by these rules.”

Former royal butler Paul Burrell shared his opinion about Markle’s lavish baby shower and what’s the Duke of Cambridge’s possible reaction would be about the matter. According to him, Prince William would be angry with Markle’s extravagance because her baby shower was more “celebrity” rather than “royal.”

Prince William has been working for years with the press while still keeping his and his family’s privacy. On the other hand, Markle has been “courting attention all for her and her baby.”
