Meghan Markle’s Sister Slams Jeremy Vine Over 'Step-Sister' Comment, Criticized By Brits
Meghan Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, slammed Jeremy Vine on live television during their recent interview.
The host of the Channel 5 talk show referred to the Duchess of Sussex’s half-sibling as her stepsister, and Samantha immediately corrected him.
“She’s not my stepsister, she is my blood half-sister,” she said (via Express).
During the entire interview, Samantha tried to explain some of the comments she made about Markle and Prince Harry on her Twitter account. Last month, she posted a photo of a hamster eating a slice of cake on Prince Harry’s birthday.
“It’s quite aggressive, isn’t it?” Vine asked the author.
“It’s meant to be funny and I thought the picture was cute,” Samantha responded.
“It’s meant to be funny, but it’s hurtful. You specialize in helping people with mental issues. You know what can be funny to one can be hurtful to another, don’t you?” Vine asked her.
The host also questioned Samantha’s make of addressing her ongoing family issues by ranting about them on social media.
“I’m struggling here because I don’t understand if you have an issue with someone you don’t take it out on Twitter. If you fall out with your family you don’t do it on Twitter. You don’t do it this way,” he said.
Vine’s comments were not the only criticism that Samantha received during her interview. Some callers also criticized her for saying that she loves her sister but talking negatively about her, Prince Harry, and the royal family.
“All we’ve seen is the hate you’ve spewed against your sister. If you actually love your sister, I think this should have been done in private, not on social media, or going on television saying you’re sorry… what you’re doing is not right,” Chris from Kent said (via Express).
But Samantha quickly defended herself by saying that most of what people have read in the tabloids is not true.
“There have been so many times I’ve said, in live interviews, favorable things but they were not printed,” she said.
Towards the end of the interview, Samantha issued an apology addressed to the Duchess of Sussex.
“So, moving forward, I apologize and I wish things could be different,” she said.
