Melania Trump announced that her husband, President Donald Trump, just signed an Executive Order supporting the child welfare system, but her post backfired.
On Wednesday (June 24), the First Lady took to social media to give her followers an update on what the POTUS did to support child welfare.
“Our child welfare system is responsible for creating safe & stable homes for more than 400,000 children. Today @POTUS signed an Executive Order that will enhance & strengthen the system to improve outcomes for America's children. #BeBest,” she wrote on Twitter.
However, the tweet backfired as many complained about Trump’s immigration policy that led immigrant kids to being put in cages after illegally crossing the Mexico border. Many Twitter users felt that the administration was not handling the issue well in terms of child welfare.
“You consider cages to be safe and stable homes? Worst FLOTUS and POTUS ever. Eva and Adolf,” one commented.
“One in five children have no healthcare in the USA and Donald with the corrupt GOP are trying to kill the ACA. More American kids go hungry, right now, because of @realDonaldTrump’s failures in this pandemic. #TrumpIsKillingUs,” another added.
“What about the little ones caged, alone, neglected at Southern border? They are innocent. You can't be pro ‘some’ life. You are either pro life for all or you're not. You and yours are not,” @PeekNReilly commented.
Meanwhile, some netizens praised the POTUS and FLOTUS’ efforts. Many thanked them for the new system for the children. Others also defended Melania and the POTUS from those who blamed them over various concerns about children going hungry.
“How are kids going hungry because of Trump? I want to know? What I see is parents not working if kids are going hungry,” one asked.
“Great news First Lady!” @MatthewJshow commented.
“You and your husband are going to go down in history as the greatest couple to ever sit in the whitehouse !! Although I’m Canadian .. I still 100% support your efforts as do most of my fellow Canadians !” @darrinl04789291 opined.
In related news, Melania fired back at John Henson for mentioning her son, Barron, in an insensitive tweet. The FLOTUS did not like the way the Food Network host joked about Barron's dad, implying that his real father is not the POTUS.
