Met Gala 2019 Guest List And Theme: Who Will Attend ‘Camp: Notes On Fashion’?
It might be one of the most exclusive events of the year, but even some of the biggest celebrities can’t guarantee that they will score an invite to the Met Gala.
The annual event, which is hosted at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and is hosted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is only open to guests who received an invitation, and even some of Hollywood’s elite can be snubbed when it comes to scoring the exclusive invitation. This year, the “Camp: Notes on Fashion” event is once again set to have an exclusive guest list, with an estimated guest list of between 600-700 people.
As for guests who will be in attendance, the only attendees who have had their attendance confirmed are Wintour, her co-chairs, and those who are a part of the exclusive hosting committee. While her co-chairs for this year’s event are Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Serena Williams, those who are also attending will be a large number of the most elite members of Hollywood society, as well as some of the biggest names in fashion.
Those celebs include Chadwick Boseman, Bradley Cooper, Nick and Priyanka Jonas, Jared Leto, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, Bryan Lourd, Ryan Murphy, Cam Newton, Lupita Nyong’o, Katy Perry, Lena Waithe, Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha and Venus Williams.
In addition, some regular staples od past events who are likely to score invites and attend include Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, the various members of the Kardashian and Jenner families, Beyoncé Knowles, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, George and Amal Clooney, Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker, models Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne and Tom Brady and Giselle Bündchen.
Others who could score invites (thought their attendance won’t happen), are Wintour’s own personal favorites—Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
“Yes, definitely. I would love to have the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge together,” she told “Today” about the 2019 event. “They would be my dream couple. They could leave their husbands at home. It’s the two of them I want.”
Of course, whether a celeb receives an invitation and accepts or declines, they can’t automatically assume they will, in fact, get an invitation at the exclusive event each and every year. Even those who have been common fixtures on the red carpet in years past can be excluded from a current year’s event.
In fact, Wintour reportedly has a list of some celebs who have been banned from attending—which includes President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania, as well as fashion gurus Tim Gunn and Rachel Zoe.
