Michael Schumacher’s first Ferrari Formula One car is up for sale and it costs an insane amount of dollars.
The first-ever Ferrari Formula 1 car driven by Schumacher is truly a rare piece of Ferrari F1 history . Fortunately for racing fanatics, the car is up for sale. However, it comes with a price tag rumored to be roughly about £7 million or exactly $9,094,565 based on the current conversion.
The historic F1 race car was used by Jean Alesi during the 1995 season. It was then tested by Schumacher at Ferrari’s own Fiorano track and Estoril in Portugal in November that same year.
History states that legendary racer did not race Chassis 157, but it gave him his first experience of an F1 Ferrari. Another thing that makes the car rich in history was that during those test sessions, Schumacher proved that he’s a magician behind the wheel by going faster than any previous driver had managed, Daily Record reported.
In 2018, another Schumacher F1 Ferrari car made the headlines for how much it costs. The Ferrari F2001 is also a race car with a unique past. Aside from the fact that it belonged to Schumacher, it was also the same exact car he drove when he won the Monaco Grand Prix in 2001, one of the biggest motor sport events in the world.
In November, an anonymous bidder bought it for a whopping $7.5 million at Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Auction in Manhattan.
As expected, the lucky buyer is getting more than just the history behind the legendary car. The Ferrari F2001 was equipped with a 3.0-liter, 800 horsepower V-10 engine, and can still race even to this day.
What’s even more interesting is that it comes with its own “pit crew.”
″[The pit crew] will fly out to you with their trucks and equipment, and wherever you want to race in the world, they’ll help you start this car and run it the same way the team was supporting Schumacher in 2001,” Sotheby’s representative Jake Auerbach revealed.
Last December, an Ayrton Senna-autographed helmet was sold for another astounding amount of cash. Auction company RM Sotheby’s hosted an online-only sale of 103 lots of Formula 1 memorabilia. In the said online event, a 1988 Ayrton Senna McLaren-Honda signed helmet was the top sale after being bought for $102,000,
The auction company revealed that the event earned a total of $728,454, with Senna’s iconic helmet being the most notable memorabilia sold.
