Michael Weatherly Leaves 'Bull' For New Creative Challenges; Show To End With Season 6

Michael Weatherly, who portrayed Dr. Jason Bull on the crime series "Bull," revealed that he won't continue with the show anymore. The series is ending with season 6.

The 53-year-old actor took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a note regarding his exit. "Hello all! It’s been my privilege to play Dr Jason Bull but after 6 Seasons of incredible storylines, I’ve decided it’s time to pursue new creative challenges and bring his story to a close," he wrote.

Weatherly went on to share that it was an honor to work with the talented cast and crew members. He also credited the writers and the producers who helped in reinventing the legal drama.

"Stay tuned for a big series finish… Thanks to all the fans from the bottom of my heart. You will always be a part of our Bull family!" he added. The actor also shared a teaser of the show's remaining 12 episodes. The series finale is expected to air in May.

In the same tweet thread, Weatherly also added a compilation video featuring his appearances on the show from 2016 to 2022.

Fans took to the comments section to share their reactions.

After learning that the actor will exit from "Bull," many fans requested the actor to return back on another show, "NCIS," where he appeared between 2003 to 2016.

"PLEASE come back to NCIS!" a fan wrote. "We’ve missed Tony so much, and now with Gibbs gone, we need you more than ever. I like Gary Cole, but he isn’t To y Dinnozo!" Another fan also wrote on the same lines, "Oh please bring dinozzo back to Ncis so miss him."

"Go out on top," a user encouraged the actor's decision. "While I will miss the show, I felt the same when you left NCIS only to love watching you in Bull. It was sad, but having to understand that taking on a new role will give you new experiences which is what we should all do to grow."

The official handle of the series also shared a 30 seconds footage featuring the actor and captioned, "6 seasons. 1 incredible ride. The final season of #Bull continues with a new episode this Thursday."

Besides Weatherly, the show also stars Yara Martinez, Geneva Carr, MacKenzie Meehan, Jaime Lee Kirchner and Christopher Jackson. The series airs on the CBS network every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET.
