Milan Fashion Week 2016: Early Trends From Spring 2017 [PHOTOS]
Fashion Week has officially begun in Milan.
Following a very successful London Fashion Week, Italian designers and brands from Gucci to Fendi are debuting their collections for the spring/summer 2017 season until Tuesday and members of the fashion cognoscenti have already taken to social media channels to share their favorite highlights from the first day of the event.
King of decadence, designer Alessandro Michele, stole the day with his most recent collection for Gucci. Acting as the luxury brand’s creative director for his third season, Michele delivered chiffon gowns, animal-print jackets and leisure suits at Wednesday’s show.
“The thought overflows undisciplined,” went the show notes. “It’s an intentionally unsystematic thought.”
Here is how people reacted:
It also didn’t hurt that “50 Shades of Grey” star Dakota Johnson made an appearance and snapped a few pics with Michele.
Another news-worthy designer was the inimitable Alberta Ferretti. Sweeping layered ruffle skirts cinched with multiple belts and the jewel-tone frocks were almost as talked about as the models wearing them. Bella Hadid and Stella Maxwell were the ladies of the hour.
Speaking of the Hadid girls, Gigi made her own stylish appearance when she left her hotel – the model is expected to walk in the Max Mara show for Milan Fashion Week.
Printed floral mini dresses were “of the moment” at Fausto Puglisi and Roberto Cavalli went full-1970s with printed button-up vests and psychedelic capes.
Editors, models and bloggers such as Chiara Ferragni, Caroline Vreeland and Anna Dello Russo are expected to post more selfies and outfit changes in the days ahead. Stay tuned.
