The model who went topless on a yacht with Jack Brooksbank, the husband of Princess Eugenie, said she regrets it and wants to apologize to the royal.
Brooksbank made headlines earlier this month after photos emerged of him aboard a boat in Capri, Italy, with three women and without his wife, just months after the birth of their first child.
Italian model Erica Pelosini, who was photographed topless during their outing, is now attempting to clear the air, telling Daily Mail, "I usually never go topless, but my bikini got wet and I decided to take it off."
"I know it does not look right for Jack and his family," she acknowledged. "I felt very bad for them when I saw the images of him surrounded by three women because his wife was not there."
Pelosini continued, "It led people to make improper suggestions and jump to conclusions and it’s very hurtful that people are thinking this. I’m very sorry if I caused any embarrassment to Princess Eugenie and Jack. It wasn’t appropriate for me to be topless."
Pelosini said she could understand how the pictures could be "misinterpreted" but insisted that the outing was strictly platonic and that they were there "as friends and work colleagues having a wonderful afternoon in the Italian sun."
She went on to describe Brooksbank as a "very dear friend" who she has known for "a number of years."
"It’s very upsetting for me that people could be thinking the wrong things," she continued. "If I had known we were being photographed, I would not have gone topless and I would have worn a better outfit."
Princess Eugenie's mom, Sarah Ferguson, also defended her son-in-law, explaining during an interview that Brooksbank had been in Italy as part of his role as an ambassador for Casamigos, the tequila brand founded by George Clooney and Rande Gerber.
Brooksbank reportedly attended the star-studded UNICEF Summer Gala, which Casamigos sponsored. Aside from Pelosisni, he was joined on the boat on July 30 by Casamigos global director of events and partnerships Rachel Zalis and gala attendee Maria Buccellati.
"He works as an ambassador for Casamigos, and he was on doing his job, and so, I think it’s really important that we clarify that for Jack’s sake," Ferguson said on BBC One's "The One Show" Monday.
The Duchess of York continued, "Jack, who was on the front page, is such a man of integrity. He's just one of my most favorite people. I call him James Bond, actually. He's just a superhero in my book, and he's a great father, a fabulous husband, and he's never at front of house, he always likes to be at the back."
Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank tied the knot in October 2018 and welcomed their son August in February.
