A pregnant woman gave birth to her child while using the toilet earlier this month.
Victoya Venise was staying at a hotel in Dunwoody, Georgia, on April 1 for a business trip when a shocking event happened while she was using the bathroom, 11 Alive reported.
The graphic designer and social media manager initially believed she had a stomach bug and did not think the discomfort was due to her baby.
Venise had just come back from urgent care with her 4-year-old daughter, who had a stomach bug.
However, the single mother reportedly gave birth to her son while using the bathroom.
“I turned around, and it was a baby, and I was like, ‘gasp,’” Venise was quoted as saying by Fox 5 Atlanta.
“By the time I realized it was a baby and not poop, it was just too late,” she said.
After giving birth, Venise grabbed her newborn out of the toilet and wrapped him in a towel.
She then called her mother and emergency services before being taken to Northside Hospital, just a few minutes away from where she was staying.
Doctors were just as surprised as Venise when they learned of her delivery.
“They actually thought my due date was May 15 because I was so small. So that was kind of the conflict with them. They thought I was not as far as long,” Venise said.
She has since named her newborn Rocky.
“Rocky is a nickname that was given to my grandfather. And I just thought that it was kind of so befitting because it was like you had a rocky start, but you're going to be strong, and you're a fighter,” Venise explained.
Venise initially considered putting Rocky up for adoption, but the circumstances of his birth have changed that.
“I feel so connected to him even more,” Venise said.
“No, you're mine, I'm going to take care of you. If I could literally bring you into the world by myself, I think I could take care of you,” she added.
Venise has planned to take some time off once she is done with her current project. She wanted to move back to Atlanta to be closer to her mom.
