MTV Video Music Awards 2016: What To Expect From The Highly Anticipated Award Show Before Its Aug. 28 Air Date
Brace yourselves — the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards is just hours away and this year’s show is going to be big.
The network has called in an all-star team of performers and presenters to take the stage between awards, which will be handed out to the best of the best in Hollywood. According to a report from People magazine, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj have been pegged for a duet. The pair will team up on the former Nickelodeon star’s newest single, “Side to Side.” The publication reports that Grande, 23, will “share [her] voice like it’s never been heard before” — which is major considering her range.
MTV is pulling out all the stops when it comes to presenters at the 2016 VMAs as well. Kim Kardashian West, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Ansel Elgort, Alicia Keys, Fifth Harmony, Jaden Smith, Tove Lo, Rita Ora and more have been hand selected to present winners with their moonmen on Sunday, Aug. 28. The show, which will take place in New York City for the first time since 2013, will air live from Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
Other performers expected to take the stage during the VMAs include Nick Jonas, Future, Britney Spears and Rihanna. In addition to having been asked to sing during the show, the “Needed You” songstress has been revealed as the recipient of this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award — a lifetime achievement award. Previous winners include Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Kanye West and more.
Before the award show fans of “Teen Mom OG” can tune in to catch an early airing of episode 3, titled “Don’t Panic.” A teaser for the episode shows Farrah Abraham, who moved to Los Angeles during the Season 6 premiere, returning to her native Iowa for a doctor’s appointment. During the clip she is shown growing frustrated with her mother Debra, who attempts to help prepare her for a colonoscopy. Meanwhile Amber is off to the East Coast to meet fiancé Matt Baier’s family. Maci Bookout is coming to grips with the fact that not long after welcoming her second child with boyfriend Taylor Kinney she is pregnant with a third. Another teaser gave fans a glimpse into Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra’s issues with the adoptive parents of their eldest daughter Carly. In the clip Tyler grows frustrated while discussing the fact that Brandon and Teresa may not be comfortable with them discussing Carly’s adoption in front of MTV’s cameras.
Be sure to catch “Teen Mom OG” Sunday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. EDT. The episode will also air Monday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. EDT and 9 p.m. EDT. The MTV VMAs kick off Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT.
