Mumford & Sons: Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Ed Helms And Will Forte Play Band In Hilarious New Video

English folk quartet Mumford & Sons continue to support the release of their sophomore studio album “Babel” with a brand new video for standout tune “Hopeless Wanderer.” Rather than appear in the video themselves, the band decided to call on a few famous friends to portray them in the five-minute clip.

The video starts off with faceless musicians playing their instruments in the middle of a field. Eventually, the camera pans to reveal Ed Helms (“The Hangover,” “The Daily Show”), Jason Bateman (“Arrested Development”), Jason Sudeikis (“Saturday Night Live”) and Will Forte (“Saturday Night Live”) dressed up as the members of Mumford & Sons.

During the hilarious video, the “band” performs in a field and inside a barn, lip synching, dancing, crying, making out with each other and destroying their instruments as the song builds to a crescendo. See the full clip below.

The real Mumford & Sons shared the video on their Facebook page. “A massive pair of thumbs-up to Sam Jones for directing and his cast of young budding actors,” the band wrote. “We’re sure they all have bright futures a head of them.”

“World, if you haven't yet, meet the Hopeless Wanderers aka Jason, Jason, Ed and Will (extra high fives to them for the dance routine),” they added in a separate post.

The actors themselves also helped to spread the word. As the Christian Science Monitor points out, Bateman tweeted a link to the video, writing “Rock and roll history...” Helms also got in on the action via Twitter, “Proud to be a fake member of @MumfordAndSons I think we showed a lot of fake artistic integrity in new video,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Mumford & Sons are gearing up for a fresh round of North American tour dates, starting Aug. 23 in Simcoe, ON, and ending on September 23 in Bonner Springs, Kan. In between, they’ll play Atlanta, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Dallas and more. Click here for a full list of dates.
