Update — 11/28/18 1:57 p.m. EST: “Murphy Brown” creator Diane English tweeted an update on the show on Wednesday afternoon.

“Murphy Brown fans. We are NOT CANCELED!!!!! Several entertainment sites read a mid season schedule put out by CBS that did not have our show on it and the assumption was made that we were not renewed,” she wrote. “Our order, at our request was 13 eps. We look forward to a second season.”

Original Story: CBS’ “Murphy Brown,” which originally ran on the network from 1988 to 1998, wraps up its first revival season on Dec. 20, with no additional episodes ordered.

From the start, the 2018 revival series, which features Candice Bergen reprising her role as the titular character, was only meant to have a final order of 13 episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Still, CBS is choosing to keep its options open in regards to the future of the show.

A new sitcom from the network, “Fam,” starring Nina Dobrev and Tone Bell, will fill the time slot of “Murphy Brown,” when it airs on Jan. 10. Bergen’s sitcom is still being considered for renewal, but its 2018 ratings for Season 11 aren’t helping matters.

The show’s been receiving an average of 6.2 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic group.

“Murphy Brown” Season 11 will continue to air on Thursdays on CBS at 9:30 p.m. EST.
