‘My Christmas Family Tree’ Hallmark Movie Premiere: Cast, Trailer, Synopsis
Hallmark Channel’s merry holiday season continues with the newest “Countdown to Christmas” holiday premiere, “My Christmas Family Tree.” The film, starring Aimee Teegarden and Andrew Walker, premieres Saturday night.
The film is set to be a special treat for Hallmark fans, especially those who are big fans of Walker since he is a staple on the network. Among his more recent credits have been the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries films “Christmas on My Mind” and “Christmas Tree Lane,” as well as several titles on Hallmark Channel. Those include “Appetite for Love,” “Date with Love,” “A Dream of Christmas,” “Love on ice,” “The Perfect Catch,” “Love Struck Café,” “My Secret Valentine,” “Wedding March 4: Something Old, Something New,” “Love in Design,” “Bottled with Love,” “Merry & Bright,” “Sweet Autumn” and “The 27-Hour Day.”
Teegarden, who is best known for her long-running role as Julie Taylor on “Friday Night Lights,” is also a potential familiar face, having starred in “Once Upon a Christmas Miracle” on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and “A New Year’s Resolution” on Hallmark Channel.
James Tupper (“Emma Fielding Mysteries”) also stars.
So what will happen in this holiday film? Let’s find out.
“Vanessa (Teegarden) has never had a real family to celebrate with during the holidays, but when she receives the results from her family tree DNA test, she discovers a family she didn’t know existed,” a synopsis for the film reads. “Richard (Tupper), her biological father, invites her to spend the Christmas weekend with him and his family.”
Initially hesitant, Vanessa agrees to meet her new family at Christmas and travels with their friend Kris (Walker), who knows all the details about the group and helps Vanessa as she tries to break the ice with Richard’s wife and three children. With his help, an initially uncomfortable setting starts to become warmer as Vanessa connects with more members of the family and begins to fit in.
“As the weekend progresses, Vanessa meets her grandmother and other relatives, and even helps her little sister overcome stage fright before performing at the Christmas pageant,” the synopsis continues.
However, when Vanessa gets some unexpected news, it threatens to put everything—including her connection with Kris—all on the line.
“Vanessa is having a wonderful time getting to know her new family until she gets a message from the DNA testing company with some surprising news that she worries may jeopardize her holiday,” the synopsis reads.
Will Vanessa’s holiday be salvaged, or will she once again find herself spending the festive season alone?
“My Christmas Family Tree” airs Saturday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. EST on Hallmark Channel.
